Depression is commonly known as a major depressive mental disorder. This has a recognized clinical condition characterized by an all-encompassing low mood, low self-esteem, and loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities. There are commonly three treatments for depression, and these include psychotherapy, medication, and electroconvulsive therapy.

Psychotherapy

This treatment is an intentional interpersonal relationship therapy used by trained experts to help their clients with their problems. It primarily aims to increase the sense of well-being of an individual and reduce their sense of discomfort. The doctors use a wide array of techniques based on experiential relationship building like dialogues, communication change, and behavioral changes of the patient. They improve the mental health of the clients. This may be performed by practitioners like psychologists, marriage therapists, licensed social workers, counselors, and psychiatric nurses.

This treatment is used as the last resort when treating people with depression problems especially if they have not been respondent to any trials of antidepressant medications and any supported intervention like psychotherapy. Seizures are introduced to patients for a therapeutic effect in this type of treatment. Its effects are quicker, and it can be effective as a short-term treatment. There are a variety of different treatments for depression; again whether these best treatments for depression are effective depends largely on the individual and how they respond:
1. Antidepressants - there are many drugs on the market today which are used to help with depression. The thing to remember is that drugs do not treat the depression, they don't get down to the underlying issues as to why you were hit with depression in the first place, and they still need to be addressed. What the medications do, do is treat the symptoms of the depression.
2. The Psychotherapy - Also referred to as "talk therapy" and it involves a therapist and together you work through your depression causes through talking about your various issues. Many people find that just being able to talk about what they feel lifts the weight and with it brings some relief. Psychotherapy has a variety of different forms.

According to a survey today 50 to 60 percent of the world's population is suffering from depression. It is a situation in which a person feel loneliness and negative thoughts come in his mind. In general depression is the outcome of fast and hectic life in which a person has no tim e to care for his body. Because of depression a person can even think of committing suicide. So it must be treated as soon as possible.
